COVID-19 Update

Good Afternoon Everyone –

Church Council and members from the “Re-opening Committee” have again discussed in-person church services here at Alvin Lutheran Church. It has been decided that due to the increase in COVID-19 cases here in the greater Houston area, we will be continuing with our Parking Lot Services for the foreseeable future. When COVID-19 cases flatline or decrease, the reopening committee will reconvene and make their recommendations on re-opening.

The following is an excerpt of a letter from the Bishop of the Texas-Louisiana Gulf Coast Synod, Michael Rinehart, dated June 26, 2020:

“In light of Governor Abbott’s statements regarding the spike in COVID-19 cases and his executive order to reverse the gradual opening of businesses, for the safety of the community, I strongly urge you not to move to reopen in-person worship at this time… Our recommendations to you remain unchanged. Restarting in-person worship is contingent on a two-week decline in cases and fatalities. We have seen just the opposite. Positive test rates are now over 10%.”

We will be holding our parking lot services and live-streaming the service every Sunday at 10:30 am.

Take care everyone and Hope to see you in the parking lot on Sunday!
